Congratulations to Nube for participating in Tech Crunch’s start-up Battlefield Latin America 2018 in Sao Paulo Brazil. Nube’s end-to-end IoT platform solves the problem of efficiently managing supply to remotely-located consumer and industrial tanks used by customers of Gas Distribution companies in Mexico and other LATAM countries. This allows Gas Distribution companies to differentiate themselves through better Fleet Management and Customer Service. What people don’t appreciate is the 6 week prep and training that goes into ensuring Finalists are well prepared to deliver a crisp, engaging pitch. Well done Chris Gnanakone, with support from your team Saumil Chheda Aída Olimpia Orozco hashtaginternetofthings
Congratulations to local start-up Verdir for the completion of their first Mobile Industrial Waste Water Treatment trailer. The trailer features industry-leading technology from Jerry Hanna and Clearflow Solutions, LLC as well as from David Dooley (firstname.lastname@example.org) and Baleen International Inc. The trailer was on show at a customer open-house today in the County of Sturgeon, and was processing water to reduce total suspended solids and turbidity.
With upwards of 450+ IoT “platforms” now available as partner options, how do you navigate a decision process? The attached is a good framework for setting important criteria and a process in evaluating potential choices. I would add that while implementation experience/uses cases in a particular vertical industry application is not critical, it too can be used as one of the factors to heighten comfort that a particular platform can meet your needs. I would place high weighting on the End-to-End completeness of a solution, particularly the demonstrated ability to integrate with hardware and sensors, and the associated security of the solution, not just technical, but also the processes surrounding the solution (a la ISO 27002)
This is an excellent perspective on the state of digital adoption in the Oil & Gas industry, and the opportunity that IoT and AI have in the filed. While the talk nominally starts on pipelines, it really focuses on the entire industry, and in particular, it is applicable to the upstream operations, which is where Zedi is active. The pieces are there, but systematic adoption of technology by people in processes is the next horizon.
Here’s a neat innovation. Deveci Tech, out of Istanbul, has created Enlil, a small-footprint vertical access wind turbine that can be driven not only by regular wind, but also the turbulence created by high-speed traffic. It appears it can generate up to 1 kW of electricity, and has built in IoT sensors to monitor ground-level pollutants or vibrations. It is still in development.
